Introduction to Social Movements

This module takes you through the life cycle of a social movement, explaining how they begin, grow, and end. You will also learn the typology of social movements and apply your theoretical knowledge of social movements to important case studies.

Social Movements: The Collective Action Problem

This module will introduce the collective action problem and distinguish social movements from collective action before analyzing in-depth case studies of the current issues surrounding global overfishing and climate change.

Social Movements: Civil Rights

This module covers the philosophy of civil rights and features of civil rights movements, with case studies on civil rights movements in the United States as well as the Anti-Apartheid movement in South Africa.

Social Movements: Activism Today

This module covers current events events in social movements, including their growing relationship with social media, prominent 21st century youth activists, and the #BlackLivesMatter movement.
